ART, HISTORY AND TECHNIQUE OF GLASS

FROM ANTIQUITY TO THE PRESENT DAY

THE EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL SERVICE

The Glass Museum is a space which is brought to life through the participation of the public as they meet to think about glass as a material. It is also where we celebrate the memory of the history of glass in Wallonia and its role in the region’s economic development and its identity. Art, history and technique: these are the 3 pillars of the collections, which boast over 6000 pieces of glass and tools, from Mycenaean times right up to the present day.

The task of its educational and cultural service is to showcase the collections, the material and its developments by means of various actions, exchanges and dialogue. It provides general guided tours, thematic tours and workshops around various approaches: some more light-hearted and some more scientific, intended for nursery, primary and secondary schools.

The service’s main objectives are to encourage visitors to look more closely, to analyse and compare, to make them react emotionally and to develop their creativity.
