Bagatelles Créations
Creators of art beads
Glass was not originally the preferred material of Alain Deguide and Anne Janssens of Bagatelles Créations. Their introduction to the medium over ten years ago marked a turning point in their artistic career. They became fascinated by glass and wanted to set up a dialogue with it by using a blowtorch to spin glass threads. They then created a collection of beads, inspired by animals, plants and also by Venetian art.
In this special focus devoted to them, their creations are placed in a dialogue with the Glass Museum’s collection. The ‘reticelli’ beads sit alongside Venetian snake-legged beads, orchids bask as they sit next to creations by Emile Gallé, and the seabed shares the ocean with French glassmaker Jean Sala (1895-1976).
